Dear Gemini Yeager,

I met this man who has a great career and makes a lot of money.  However, he is very tight with his money.  When we go out he carefully watches what he spends and complains if I order too much to eat.  The car he drives is old with a bunch of miles although he has a beautiful house.  I want to feel special and have nice things done for me, but I don’t know if he’s willing to do those things.  Help!!!

Twin Yea! Although he seems like he might not be a good catch, he actually may be preparing the two of you for a wonderful future.  So often we fall for the guy that has the nice car, nice clothes and all the bling.   However, he lives in life on credit.  We fail to realize that this guy is living in extreme debt.  Instead of living a stress free life where he doesn’t constantly have to worry about how his bills will be paid, he’ll be the guy always trying to hustle the newest ‘get rich quick’ scheme.  You may not understand it now, but a guy’s credit score can be very sexy!  You have to determine if you’re more concerned about being wined and dined now, but living in debt or enjoying some things in life (but not all) by saving up for a carefree future. Hopefully you have your own money and don’t have to depend on any guy for your happiness.  When you get to this point, the things a man gives you will just be a bonus instead of a necessity.
